Evidence before opinion

What counts as evidence — and what does not

The 18 checks are grouped into four weighted areas, but the number is only the final output. Each review also needs a dated record of what was checked, which source type supported the claim and which facts could not be independently confirmed.

01

Evidence hierarchy

Official regulator registers, named operator terms and the live product carry the most weight. Cashier and help-centre checks add market context. Dated partner material can document an offer, but it is labelled and never treated as independent proof of licensing or performance.

02

Updates and corrections

A review date records the latest editorial check, not a permanent guarantee. Scores change when material evidence changes. Corrections should identify the affected claim and a verifiable source so the update can be recorded transparently.

03

Commercial separation

Some outbound links can generate commission. That relationship is disclosed and does not replace the rating criteria. An operator does not receive a better score for buying placement, and commercial material cannot overrule a documented limitation.

Every review should show

  • A visible last-checked date.
  • The source type and evidence grade.
  • Country or availability limitations.
  • A route to the methodology and corrections policy.
